  1. I own a pioneer 343 dvd player and just a normal sony tv. My problem is is that when i do a 5.1 speaker test no sound comes out when it tries to play for the left forward speaker. All the other speakers, even the left rear work fine. I do not have a 5.1 system. I'm just wondering what would cause all the other speakers on a 5.1 systems set up test except for the sub work fine except for my left front channel. Is there a way I can fix this? If you need more info just ask. Thanks

  4. I dont have any receiver. I just have a straight tv to dvd set up. In the tv manual it says i only have 2 speakers so it seems funny that i would have a left rear and a right rear and front but no left front. the center speaker also is there. For wiring i have a one yellow video coaxial cable and the 2 red and white coaxial stereo audio cable. I thought it might had been a blown speaker but my manual says theres only 2 speakers, so i dont know.

  9. Ok It is not a surround sound setup at all so of course there will only be sound out of the two speakers. I'm surprised the tv is even trying to switch the sound to ct like it has more than two speakers. That is something that I've never hard

    Hope this info helps

  10. Its got a simulated surround sound thing maybe thats why but thats not the problem. The problem seems to be with the dvd player is there a way i can set it up so it wont try to do 5.1? Its wierd though cause if it was trying to do surround with only 2 speakers wouldnt front and back left be combined into the left speaker, front and back right into the right and center be both? Its quite annoying because since i am missing a main channel from being used, i'm missing alot of things on my movies. Is there a way to fix this or am i stuck with it?

  12. I am asumeing that the DVD player is hooked Directly to the TV with AV cables. If this is the case. There is NO way that you can get 5.1. In oder to get 5.1 you have to have it hooked up digitally. and AV cables are analog. What you are getting is a downmixed signal that is why you here the test for the rear speakers when you do the sound test. It is just basically converting the Digital 5.1 signal to a stereo analog signal. Nothing is wrong. This is normal. As long as the movie is playing from the L and R channel is stereo there is no peoblem. If nothing is coming out of the left speaer durning the movie. Go into your DVD player options onder audio and make sure it is ste to PCM, and not bitrate. But do not even concern yourself with 5.1, the DVD player is not trying to do 5.1 cause as sI stated before. No way to get DD 5.1 without a digital audio connection.
Do a test and play yhe movie. If it is coming out of both speakers you are not missing any sound.
