  1. I need help trying to convert an avi to divx. I have done this before very well but now I’m dealing with an avi video produced from the ANSYS apps and I’m having no luck. I tried a two pass encoding with divx 4.xx and the movie looks distorted. I tried to convert to mpg resulting in a black video. Some of the vide information:

    856x552, 10fps
    29 frames in 0:02 sec
    Microsoft Video 1 (decompressor)

It is a short simulation movie of a part receiving a load. It is 2.xxMB and I know I can compress it to 100kb or less with good quality using divx. Anyone willing to help please? Thanks.

  2. FEA! I haven't used ANSYS in a long time (just a couple of consulting jobs a few years back), but I'll assume that you've already converted the anim file to an AVI (or it might do that on its own now - I have no idea - i used to have to use an app to do that in order to watch them in WMP).

Here's the "Animate" conversion app I used to use:

    http://www.egr.msu.edu/decs/facilities/software/ansys/animate.exe

Give that a shot (if you haven't already) and see if it can't make that AVI into Windows-readable AVI. Best of luck!
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  3. The software u recommended seems to do exactly what ansys do. Anyway I worked around the problems. Looks like using filters makes the resulting video distorted. I tried first encoding to divx using 1 pass 2000kbps then using that avi I encoded using filters, 2 pass, etc. This way it works. Thanks for the help.
