Hey I am trying to edit a bunch of xvid .avi files using divx author and then exporting them as an .avi however, divx author only lets you export them as .divx video files. Can anyone help? Or suggest another editing program that may work better?

    Thanks

  2. Just rename them .AVI. If you aren't using things like menus and chapters .DIVX is the same container as .AVI. Even if you are using those features any decent player should be able to play the files -- it will just ignore the extra stuff.

  4. I don't think Divx Author hard codes subtitles. It includes them as a separate data stream within the file. The player overlays the subtitles while playing the video. That is one of the extended features of .DIVX and Divx Ultra players. You can leave your subtitles as separate files and use a player that automatically locates and displays them.

i don't think that's going to work for me because i plan on streaming the exported .avi on my xbox 360. You know of any other programs that hardcode the subtitles?
