  1. I have a decent .avi copy of spiderman that I could watch all the way through on my divx player. However, when I split it and converted it to .mpeg there is a point in the .mpeg movie where the sound goes totally screwy, and the pic gets a little jumpy for the rest of the movie. When I went back and looked at the movie in the .avi format in the divx player I now get a C++ error message in that same spot and it skips like a dvd. However, I can manually advance past that spot and the movie continues fine. Is there anything I can do to correct this glitch at this spot? Barring that, is there a way that I can cut a frame or two out at that spot in the .avi format and see if it was just a couple frames that were corrupted? I have read where I can cut and splice in .mpeg format, however once that occurs in the .mpeg format the rest of the movie is junk, where as in the .avi format I can manually advance past that spot and continue fine. I would appreciate any help on this. Thanks!

VirtualDub works OK with DivX avis. You can download it from the Tools section of this site.

You may also like to try DivXFix (http://www.divx-digest.com/software/divfix.html) as a possible solution.

  3. I went to the website and downloaded DivXFix. It identified 4 corrupted frames, however it won't take them out, even when I click the box that says "cut out bad parts". I was wondering what "DivX avis" is. Can I manually cut out the 4 bad frames and not affect the operation of the file? Thanks. MJT.

  4. Also, if I do have to but the corrupted frames out, do I have to use some kind of cut and splice program then?
