  1. The screen shot shows what is in my audio profile in Windows 10.

The peculiar problem on this PC, ASUS A320 MK with onboard audio is that just one stream out of all content when selected will not play.
It's just a city council meeting supplied by the media service which processes their meetings. I can go into the other room where I have an older MSI 760gm and the audio will play. It seems very local to just this ASUS A320. Are there realtek updates available that will _simplify_ all the hi rez settings which the screenshot shows ?

  2. Do you have a exact sample file, no reencoding for us?

  3. Is it just that particular audio or is the same for all audio? And do you mean it won't actually play or it's playing but you can't hear anything?
There doesn't seem to be anything wrong in your Device Manager screenshot.
    What player are you using?

The sound could be getting directed to the wrong output by the sound card or by the player.
If you right click on the speaker icon in the taskbar you should be able to go into settings and check the output is correct. An old laptop I had would sometimes keep sending the audio to the HDMI output after it'd been connected to my TV and I'd have to change it back manually. You probably need to make sure it's set to "speakers".
Keep in mind though, players can send the audio to wherever they want, but hopefully the player is set to use the default audio output and you just need to change the output via the volume icon, assuming that's the problem.

  4. Hello-hello and all.

I do not take samples from the stream. It loads to the public here...

    https://cityofappleton.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx

just pick a video link far right side.

All video from the link loaded on the problem PC behaves the same so you can just pick a meeting and see what comes up. On the Granicus is Legistar or something. Granicus is the service. Legistar manages the calendar I guess. I tried to contact them about things but it's clear that this is a local problem since their audio plays fine elsewhere and on my second PC and I'm not a city employee. I did talk to the IT guy at city as well. He was understanding and tried to help but this is a unique case.

My only inquiry is: are there alternatives to the audio drivers etc that come with the install disk? I'm sure I did a reinstall of the audio. But it's just this one place-- city meetings-- nowhere else. For that reason I'm very reluctant to get an add-in card to see if that skirts the problem.

I think that catches me up on the questions. Good to see you again, H-H

edit--- I just reviewed the Windows sound settings about HDMI vs speaker and the speaker box is checked not HDMI plus the sliders for speaker, system sound and Firefox are all at 50% but I rarely need to look at that. System sound should not be an issue. I normally set all system sounds to off with the 'no sounds' setting to keep all the bells and whistles off.

I'm going to plotz if the HDMI setting has anything to do with this.

  5. This is the way my Windows 7 is set.
Right click on the systray speaker icon.
    Select Playback Devices
Check to see if your speakers are set to "Default Device".
In Properties select "Use this device".
You can also test in Properties /Advanced.
Make sure Windows Audio is enabled in Services.
If this all works then it is not your PC.

Make sure the browser is set to allow speakers or audio.

  6. If you're playing the video in a browser then it's probably nothing I suggested earlier, although the same still applies.

If other types of audio play okay in a media player on that PC, then maybe it's a issue with your browser, although I can't imagine what it'd be. There doesn't seem to anything out of the ordinary in your Device Manager screenshot so I doubt it's an issue with drivers. I'm on Linux so it's no doubt a bit different to a Windows configuration, but if you can see what's happening from the volume icon in the system tray in a similar manner (I can't remember as I've not use recent versions of Windows much), have a look to see if the audio is playing and where it's going. And check to make sure the audio isn't muted or turned all the way down in the video player window. That's caught me out a few times because a player will often remember it's previous volume setting, at least when playing video from the same website.

Best to use the old/classic sound configuration tool from the control-panel to check/configure what sound output is enabled.

Google: Windows old classic sound options

  8. OP here

I should also say that I tried other browsers with the same result. And yes I have the speakers check and all that. It reminds of the Firesign Theatre routine called "Everything you know is wrong."

It's just this on the PC and frankly I think that earlier this was not an issue but became one. That's why I wanted to know about updated driver options and so forth. Does Realtek have any help sites or support forums?

I've always just used onboard audio so I don't have any plug in cards. To satisfy my curiosity on that I'd have loosen the purse strings.
I'll check services at services.msc but even though I'd like turn them all off I can check to see if they are at default

Does it play (or does any file play) if the file is on the computer?
Here's a file from the site for you to try. Doesn't seem to be anything special about it

  10. You still haven't said whether you can hear the audio when playing other types of media in a media player. If you can, then it won't be a driver problem.

as a TS File, I'll see if it loads in VLC.

That was totally weird. Your TS in VLC behaved the same and played but lacked audio. All my other audio works. What doesn't the system like about things from Granicus-- that's the service providing coverage of meetings ? As I said, I contacted the city IT guy and there is no
other reports of difficulties or the fact that the other PC gets the audio fine. I'm just tired of trying to find any more mystery settings buried in Windows 10.

  12. To follow up a bit, I just tried Windows Media player on this TS as well as Daum Potplayer. Still the same, loads video but no audio on the ASUS A320

I downloaded the Chunklist.ts file and it played the audio just fine. I opened it in GraphStudioNext and it shows in my Window 10 that it is using the Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder to handle the audio. Could it be a corrupt decoder problem on that one PC rather than a audio driver problem?

Have you tried running SFC /scannow at the command prompt (run as Administrator)? If not, give it a try. If it is a corrupt file in Windows, then SFC /scannow should repair it. Be sure to reboot the PC after if SFC says it found any issues, and then try playing the file. If it doesn't show any problems, then that is one more thing that you can scratch off the potential cause list.

  14. People are staying on this but I think it's time to let it go. I have no idea why one ASUS A320 in the whole world acts this way. There's no reports on on a problem from any sort of search I can do. Likely I cannot phrase correctly. But having a fresh audio/video where the problem remains is just spooky.

I'll run sfc on your suggestion... probably tomorrow during the blizzard. Too late to start on it now. And no blizzard yet.

  15. SFC found errors as in the screen shot, but no change.

I'm letting this go. Please end it.

  16. @ davexnet, How did you get the chunklist.ts ?

I tried the chunklist.ts in Graph Studio.
    No problem playing the audio.
This is what it shows: Close to what Gramps posted.

  17. MPC-BE with internal Filters plays the ts file with Audio, but despite it is 2.0 I only hear Audio from the right speaker.

Of course, the left channel is empty.

    To the OP:
Maybe you accidentally turned off the right channel.

The easiest way to reset your audio settings is as follows:
Right-click each entry in 1) and select Uninstall.
Once all entries have been uninstalled, click the icon in 2).
All necessary drivers will be reinstalled automatically.

  20. I see there's some activity on this and _ I'm sorry_ I got frustrated and left. True apology for everytone's effort.

Today I tried the most extreme thing I could think of. At r/ASUS on reddit I stated the problem and asked any other A320MK owners who still have this board to go to the stream site and see if they get any audio. I'll look at the reinstall tip posted but as I've said everything else works.

On this can I just use disable everything in audio device manager then try the reset on the number two item on the list?
I did start the uninstall as you said and saw that they disappeared from the list. Restarting got the missing ones back and I don't want to through something I can't reverse.
