  1. I use VirtualDub 1.9.11 for analog capture on Windows 7. I just noticed that my Timing settings revert to defaults constantly. I read that one can use the "Save current settings as default" command but that option is missing from my Capture menu.

After selecting/checking on my timing options, I would then typically begin the capature. However, yesterday I got distracted, didn't start capture, and when I went to check the Timings screen, I disovered my settings have changed. So, now I'm wondering of my capture is being done with my prefered Timing settings.

    What I tried:
    - Ater setting my settings, I exited Capture Mode and closed the app. And then re-opened it. But that didn't make it remember my settings.

After setting all your settings how you want them click device settings then check save current display mode as default. That should save your settings.

If your virtualdub is acting funny or missing something for can delete the registry key and re install. Use reg edit to find the virtualdub.org registry key then delete that and then open up Virtualdub. Then save your settings. https://gist.github.com/gpoole/17b4fb3d499e3fe3719088aa34c6e401

  4. Hi Gary. Thanks.

I deleted VirtualDub.org from the registery.
On next loading of app, I got the license screen and pressed OK.
    Set my Timing settings.
    Clicked Device -- Device Settings
And selected box Save curreny display mode.

I then went back to Capure -- Timing to check my settings. It was what I selected. Then I pressed OK. Then I re-opened it. I did this four times and still kept my settings, which was more than what happened yesterday.

But on the seventh try, my settings reverted to the app default (ie, sync video to audio by adjusting...).

Then I set my Timings to my preferred settings, and clicked Device -- Device Settings. And selected box Save curreny display mode. And then I exited Capture Mode.

When I re-entered capture mode and went to Capture -- Timings, my settings were once again gone.

I don't know why you're getting inconsistent results, but the Timing settings are stored in the Windows registry. Maybe you have some antivirus software reverting it, or something..? I don't have to click anything extra to save my settings. They're pushed to the registry automatically.

"Device Settings -> Save current display mode as default" is unrelated to Timing settings. It stores your selection for Overlay vs Preview for each individual capture device.
