Hi. I wonder why there are 720p and 1080p subs? Isn't the film the same length in both cases? The dialog is the same, so what's the difference?

Its depends on the type of subtitle.
Length for the same show/movie might be the same but:
1) For .srt subs, it does not matter because they are plain text only without formatting
3) .ass subs can have special effects, fonts, sizes, typesetting and the resolution can matter -
Thank you poisondeathray. OK, I was referring to .srt subs. But I still don't understand the fundamental question - how can subs intended for the same movie, regardless of picture quality/resolution, be different as the script, the number of words spoken in the movie, are exactly the same ?

There's no difference between 1080 and 720 srt subs as long as the videos have the same length, the only way they can be different is if the videos are different versions with different running times

if srt it's because of warez. ass could also be it, but it actually has it's own reason, that being the effects and stuff
