    Greetings.

Just recently transferred old 8mm files to digital ones using OBS Studio.

The video quality is great, but the audio has an echo where when the people are talking they repeat themselves.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Because OBS is a screen recording tool, not an analog tape capture software.

You probably have OBS set to record "What You Hear" or "Windows Mixer". Change it to the audio output of the capture device. Or if you're using the line/mic input on your audio device, set it to that.

Why then does it have the capture card driver listed in video sources? Have you actually tried it?

Thank you all for your help!

JAGOBO, you pointed me in the right direction. Once I switched off both the DESKTOP AUDIO and the MIC / AUX. volumes the echo stopped.

NOW, it is out of SYNC with the people speaking. Does anyone know how to correct that?

OK folks I solved both the ECHO problem and the SYNC problem by switching to VLC Media. Only problem now is that I recorded just under 4 minutes, which resulted in a file of 1.85 GIGABYTES.

Anyone know what settings I have to change so that a MUCH smaller file is made when transferring to a digital file?

  8. In your compression codec(s) select a lower bitrate or a higher rate factor or quantizer.

If you encode on the while capturing you will get the audio sync problem again, You just have to get a bigger hard drive, capture lossless and encode later. Have you given AmarecTV a try?
