  1. I want to be able to copy subtitles without changing spelling, etc., with Subtitle Edit? When I Start OCR it does weird things such as making the letter w to vv? Before running that it recognizes letters and numbers, but changes them after.

How do I ensure it copies the subs without attempting to change anything?

All you can do is correct the errors, subtitle will remember the corrections and it will get easier after awhile.

If you have time on your hands and want to experiment you can try an old, NO LONGER DEVELOPED piece of software called DVDSubEdit. It’s rated 9.8, but that was back then. It might not even install on today’s operating systems. I remember using it. I remember I had a VOB subtitle that SubtitleEdit could not convert no matter what. DVDSubEdit had no problem with it. I have run into SubtitleEdit turning a w into vv also and it doesn’t always remember changes. DVDSubEdit has a few slider controls that loosens/tightens the OCR sensitivity.

Another piece of NO LONGER DEVELOPED software that might help is PgcDemux. I used to use it but for the life of me I cannot remember what exactly I did or what input is necessary.

Sorry I’m so iffy on these applications but it has been a while. I no longer have them installed. Check them on out under Subtitle Editors, Converters (70) and see if they might be of some use to you.

Don’t forget there is always SubRip. I’ve never had any luck with it plus it was time consuming and not very accurate.

I downloaded this one yesterday but it only works if the video is in one of the DVD Video formats.
