Split Screen

I have Movie Studio Platinum 15 and want to do a Split Screen.
I will have just my Hand moving on the Left Side and my Body will be Cut away on the Right.

So First I take a Video of just the Room with me not in it at all.
Then I Leave the Camera still on I go in the Video and start Moving my Hand around.

Now I bring this Video into Movie Studio Platinum 15 and Cut the Video in 2. Parts.

One Video will be just of the Room without me in it.
I put this on the Top Track.

And the Other Video is of me with my Hand Moving around.

Now I go to the Top Clip and Click Event Pan Crop and Drag the Left Side of the Screen so it will Show the the Video of just my Hand and it will cover my Body with the Video without me in it.

This works good but the Video on the Right witch I Drag Looks Brighter the the Clip under it.
Can anybody give me any help?

Is cookie cutter effect in Movie studio?
Use that one on the top event, select rectangle, change size and drag center to desired position. Then you can use feather so borders are not apparent.

For these things use manuals in your camcorder, fixed exposure and focus, so both scenes are lit the same way.

Yes I just Used Cookie Cutter and also under Cookie Cutter is Crop.

Both of these work but the Right Side of the Video witch is the Top Video overLay is still very Bright.

As soon as I Ad the Video ontop of the Other and then Drage or Crop it or use Cookie Cutter to take the Left Side out the Video under it shows Darker then the Video ontop witch is the Right Hand Side.

Let me put it this way.
If I want to make it look like I am Taking to Myself I will let the Camcorder Run and Video me Talking on the One Side and I will Move to the Other Side and start Talking.
Then I will just Copy the same Video and put One under the Other.

And just Cut or Crop the Side of the Video with out me in it so it show me Talking to me.

But even doing this the Wall I am in front of will look a little Darker on the Other Video.

I think Movie Studio has track motion. You'll find it in the track header. Line up your two videos on two tracks, one above the other, and then use track motion to move the video on the top one way or the other. That's the way I do it in Vegas Pro.

Going on a hunch... was your camera set to auto-exposure when you recorded this video? If so, it's very likely they don't match. You may or may not be able to color correct your way out of it.

If you can post a small sample or even a screen shot it might help.

I did Try Track Motion and yes I can use Pan and Crop to Cut Both Videos how I need them.
And then use Track Motion to put them Side by Side.

And it works but the one Video Clip you can See is Brighter then the Other.
So you See they are 2. Video Clips.

After I First Open the Video in Movie Studio Platinum 15 the Bacground on the Video looks the same Brightness.
But as soon as I Cut it one Clip always Shows Brighter then the Other.

And now it is not because I have it Selected.
Would it be ok if I Called you just to Talk about this?

To adjust brightness, use either Color Curves, Color Corrector, or Levels. For the latter two, use the Gamma control NOT the brightness function (NEVER use brightness or contrast). If Movie Studio has the Videoscope, use it to visually check that the levels match.

I assume that the videos themselves did not match to begin with. If they did match, and you are having problems with them showing up as different brightness within Vegas, then you are doing something wrong.

Yes, but you have to make sure and say I recorded it that way or not. Iris or other electronic settings can change in camcorder if you stand on the other side of picture not shooting in manual mode, or you loose source of light in between (sun goes behind clouds even if shooting in a room etc.)

Swap those events on timeline, top to bottom and bottom to top, does brightness swaps as well? If yes, it was shot that way. If not, there is something i your settings, look carefully what filters you have set on event.

I will have to check but I do not think my Camera has these Settings.

If this is True that my Camera is using an Auto Focus Setting.
And this is what is Changing the Brightness after I come into the Room in the Video.

Then when I keep the Video File as is 1. File in Movie Studio and play it I should See the Brightness Change after I come into the Room.

But it all looks good.

Because the lighting changed while you were shooting and the camera adjusted to it. This is what I (and others) suspected initially. It sounds like your presence in different parts of the shot may account for that change.

Use the advice johnmeyer gave in post #8 to try to get them to match more closely.

After you cut it into two video files, do you then use "Render As" to create new files? You do NOT want to do that. Normally it should not change the brightness, but if you were to render to a different colorspace or get the 0-255 mapping screwed up, you could definitely end up with one looking different than the other.

If you cut the video into two sections, and then take one of them and put it on the second track below the first, and don't do anything else, you should be able to "A/B" between the two tracks by clicking on the track mute button (found in the corner of the track header) for the top track. You should see absolutely no change between the exposure.

One way to help troubleshoot this is to try making a copy of one of the videos (copy/paste) and put the copy on the second track. This will give you two identical videos. If you still get an exposure change when you do what you're doing, then you are screwing something up in Vegas. On the other hand, if doing what I just described gives you the same exposure, then smrpix is almost certainly correct that you have your camera set to auto-exposure. You NEVER want to do that when attempting what you describe and, in fact, for most professional video (except for "run and gun" video), you want to lock down exposure, focus, and color balance so you don't get these variation.

I do not Rander As after I Cut my Video File into 2. Files.
And I just did this again but at Night in my Bedroom with the Light on and my Camcorders Light on.

This Time I See the Line more down to the Bottom of the Screen but not the Wall.
The Wall looks the same Brightness on the Left and Right.

So you are Right it is all the Lighting?
I have to just keep trying to play around with it.

Ok I now have it working.

Like I say I did try it the other night with the Bedrrom Light on.
And it worked a little bit more.

But going down to the Floor you can See the Brightness Change but the Walls did not.
So I was thinking maybe I just need a lot of Daylight coming in.

So I opened all my Bedroom Shades and it worked Great.

It had nothing to do with AutoFocus but it did get me thinking on the Right Path.

Well as soon as I let a lot of Daylight in and Recorded it worked.

I Cut the File into 2. Files and Overlaped them.
And then when I Crop the Left Side of the Top Video to Show the Left Side of the Bottom Video both Video Files stay the same Brightness.

And I never Rander As with any Files and then open them again to Edit them.
I do everything as is to keep my Compression down.
