Can anyone help me find the ideal settings for resizing videos for Youtube using Virtualdub? And how does x264 work on video files? I mostly the Xvid codec myself and x264 is a new experience for me.

Xvid doesn't support odd resolutions. So it can't do 225.

h.264 isn't a great match for AVI files. But using x264vfw isn't much different than using Xvid. I recommend you use a version which support presets and pick the preset that suits you and the appropriate tuning for your source. Use Single pass ratefactor based (CRF) and the ratefactor you want. If you're going to output to AVI enable the "virtualdub hack".

I had been trying to do a Let's Play but the videos always end choppy on Youtube. I had been for settings that work for Youtube but it always end up too blurry or too choppy. I also wanted it to occupy the screen on Youtube. I was hoping for help on codecs or programs that can help.

Virtualdub is surely capable, but you have to know what you're doing, same as anything.
Perhaps if you were to explain your workflow in a bit more detail, somebody may be able to help ...

  8. I don't know how well YouTube deals with h.264 in AVI. You can always export from VirtualDub with an external muxer to make MP4 or MKV files. Or a raw h.264 stream that you can mux with the audio with some other tool like Mp4Muxer or MKVToolNix.
