    Hello everyone,

I'm new to video.. I've downloaded an 18 GB mkv file and i would like to put this file to a Bluray disc and play it on my ps3. Can somebody please explain to me the steps of this procedure cause I can't seem to get a straight answer from the web. i know already that converting to AVCHD affects the quality of the video. So what are my options here- to have the ultimate experience of the bluray?Thank you in advance. sorry for my English, I'm from Greece!

oh. and the mkv file is 1280x720p H264 23.976 fps and has DTS audio 5.1

You can use tsMuxeR to put it into Blu-ray format. I'm not going to guarantee that it will work, because we have no way to determine the exact specifications of the video and audio in your MKV file. tsMuxeR will not change anything to make it compliant to Blu-ray specs. But this would be quick, and not degrade the existing quality of the video and audio.

Burn to a disc using ImgBurn and the UDF 2.5 file system. Personally, I'd use a BD-RE disc for testing purposes.

If it doesn't work, you can import the MKV file into BD Rebuilder and have it re-encode the video to match what is needed in Blu-ray format. In BD Rebuilder, click on File-->Import-->Video Files to get the MKV into the program. Set your target size to BD-25.

If you are going to burn to a Blu-ray disc, you will need a Blu-ray burner. Blu-ray blank media will not burn in a DVD burner.

The PS3 should be able to play a Blu-ray movie, unless this particular movie has Cinavia protection. If it finds Cinavia in the audio, it will shut off the sound after about twenty minutes of play.

A PS3 with updated firmware has Cinavia detection. If the movie has the Cinavia trigger built into the audio stream, it is not easy to get rid of it, and no one offers a free program to remove it. You can't start with an MKV file with the DVDFab solution for Cinavia. I don't keep up with the DVDRanger programs, but they might have something that works with MKV's. I just wouldn't deal with that company for any reason.
