  1. Hi everyone,

I need to put a PlayStation 4 in my office and I don't have enough room on my desk for an extra monitor. Is there a capture card I can connect to my notebook with USB 3 that will give me an HDMI input and I can use my PlayStation without delay? I know there's some powerful capture cards out there but I don't know if they have the software to support what I'm asking....

    Thank you

I think you would have a huge delay if you want to use the PC as a live game monitor.
But I would probably ask the question on a video gaming forum.

What are the specifications for your notebook? Even with USB3 and a fast capture card, the PC still has to do some processing.

But someone here may have a better answer.

And welcome to our forums. )

Thanks for answering... The specifications of the laptop are good. It's a gaming laptop with the nvidia GeForce 880m 8gb, Intel i7-4770k, 16GB ram and 256gb SSD.... I've asked everywhere but no luck. Maybe I should considering a small monitor or TV. I looked around and the options are very limited.

I use a monitor arm on my home desk to keep my monitor up off the desk and out of the way when not needed.
What I have also done is to send the output of my laptop to the monitor and the laptop screen at the same time.

My monitor has both a VGA and HDMI input so I can send the HDMI video and audio from a different source, such as a BD player or a game console to the monitor. It only takes a second to change the monitor input selection.

The laptop I'm using now has HDMI and VGA output, so I could use either output to the monitor.

Just another way to arrange everything. And it never hurts to have a larger monitor viewing screen for a laptop.

Using an arm to tuck away the monitor is not a bad idea. Can you share which arm you are using?

It's a Ergotron 45-241-026 LX Desk Mount LCD Arm. I bought it for $105US in 2013 and it's worked well with both a 23" and a 27" LED LCD monitor.
It's fairly common arm and a lot of places carry it.
