Hi there!
Just wondering if the only difference between the 343 and 444 is the progressive scan and the Mp3 support? I know the 444 supports both PAL and NTSC, does the 343 also do that?
If the prog and Mp3 is the only diff, and the picture quality is equal, i'll probably settle with the 343. Any ideas?

My DV-343 does appear to support both NTSC and PAL, that is on SVCD and VCD... obviously with DVD it runs into other issues...
I burned and played a PAL size and framerate VCD, it played nicely (even though the TV is NTSC)... -
there is difference in output available.
in europe scart connection 444 has RGB output. it also has optical output. -
Also, in Europe it seems that the 444 does NOT have progressive scan. So it comes down to RGB and mp3 and digital audio out - assuming the 343 doesn't have that - and the skinny look. But then, that was enough for me!
