No. M2TS is the native video format from the hardware chipset embedded in the capture device. By recording in this video format, you can get the best performance and picture quality from the product.

i'm sorry, please clarify

if the device produces .m2ts as the output, then you need to record that output and then CONVERT it

i assume this hardware records to a PC or memory card

if so you need to copy the file to the pc then convert it

if the hardware creates m2ts files, why would you need software to capture them

do you mean software to 'RECORD' them to the hard drive,
you have the device but NOT the software that is supposed to come with it ?

i have the roxio software but it really isn't good. the device i suppose only can output .m2ts so i need a free software that does the conversion i suppose, capture to.

VLC can record/transcode from any capture device in h264 with a .ts extension (pretty much the same thing than m2ts)

Unless you can figure out how to build a filter graph for the Roxio Game Capture HD Pro to use GraphStudio or GraphEdit for capture, you will have to use the manufacturer's capture software.

The Roxio Game Capture HD Pro encodes using hardware and can't provide uncompressed input, so it won't work with third-party capture software. Unless capture software is written to specifically support a particular capture device, it only accepts uncompressed input from a capture device and uses its own software encoders for compression.
