  1. Hi everyone

I want to capture some VHS and VHS-C recordings.

Previously I used a VCR connected to a Digital8 camcorder via firewire with Adobe Premiere Elements 2 on XP which worked brilliantly.

Now I'm on Windows 7 and have found that Elements 2 won't work with W7 so I'm looking for some software that will allow me to do the same thing.

I suppose I'm asking for a freeware version of what Premiere Elements does as I like to chop off the beginning and end of the recordings to make it neat then create a DVD folder ready for burning.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

    Thanks!

I don't know of one free tool that can do everything you want by itself. However I can suggest three that will do what you want in steps. WinDV can capture DV via firewire as an AVI file. AVIDemux can perform basic editing on the captured file. AVStoDVD can author a DVD from the edited AVI.

    There's also a freebee at: www.enosoft.net
I've used it for sometime now and it works great with my ADVC 110. It's a commercial software but they offer it for free to home non-commercial users.
    Give it a try!!
