If you mean the hauppauge hdpvr than yes it will just fine. I'm assuming you want to record widescreen and progressive. You'll obviously need the component cables to do so. You can do 5.1 over fiberoptic as well.

But this is assuming the game you want to record is in widescreen and surround sound. Otherwise if its full screen with no surround sound and no progressive mode then you will just get the full screen basic i input.

Be sure to set the game to widescreen and surround sound in the setup menu before recording to capture in that mode. At least with guitar hero when I had a ps2 you had to switch it to widescreen manually in the setup menu. I'm not sure if thats true for all ps2 games or not. Some might be auto widescreen. But also check if they have 5.1 and set it up to that mode in the menu (ps2 games had digital surround right? I guess maybe not all but ones like god of war surely did right?).

By the way if its not hauppauge you are talking about as long as your capture device has component inputs you can record from the component cables from the ps2. Of course the ps2 is standard def so the best you'll get out of it is 480p.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?
