I'm getting crashes with the latest version of VLC, 1.1.11. I think these occur if I close VLC by clicking the top right 'X' icon. After that I see the VLC icon in my XP system tray but I cannot exit from it. I'm forced to use Task Mgr.
Anyone else seeing similar behaviour please?

Just tried it v. 1.1.11 on my XP Home netbook, no problems. I use it on other XP Home and Pro desktops: No problems.

Thanks for testing it. I'll try to pin down more facts and come back.

Have you tried resetting your preferences? (You're usually given the option on install, or you can go to Tools > Preferences and click on the Reset Preferences button at the bottom of the window. That will reset all your settings/preferences to their default.) Sometimes, existing preferences can cause problems/become messed-up when you install a new version of VLC over an existing version.
If you'd rather not erase/reset the preferences until you're sure, go to the Start menu > Run... and enter "%appdata%" in the Run box (without the quotes), and press Enter. In the Explorer window that pops up, find the folder named "vlc" and rename it, then open VLC, and see if the problem persists. If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
