making mkv using mkvmerge

Hi
I am newbie here i have some issue when i try to make mkv from dvd what happenes is that when i convert it to .mkv and play it on my Patriot media player it plays like half an hour and then it stop i used different software no problem with that one is there something i have to adjust here?

Please give MORE information.

What do you convert with? MakeMKV? Or some other encoder where you set video and audio codec?
Does other mkvs work fine on your media player?

i convert dvd movie to .mkv using makemkv to make .mkv video it plays fine with my patriot media player but the thing is it is not the same video quality as mergemkv. fyi i am using this media player

Neither makemkv or mkvmerge convert the video so you should get same quality.

Picture seems little bit color issue.

i have another issue the head of the characters on the movies seem cut off on my 1080p sony tv..

maybe you can adjust the format (16:9 or 4:3) with your tv's remote control...or try the patriot media player and see if it has that option

you might wanna try another method of redoing BR's to mkv...like anydvd or dvdfabhd decrpyter..then use BD rebuilder to get ti to .mkv

Yeah i tried to play with the aspect ratio no luck.

it sounds like its 1 of 2 things...

makemkv is setting the mkv to a different aspect ratio than iot is (you might try mkvmerge to set the correct aspect ratio..see if that helps)

the patriot media player si seeing the wrong aspect ratio flag..

either or...i'd try another method other than makemekv and see if thats the issue
