  1. Hey everyone, I just figured I would start out introducing myself. I'm Danielle. I live in the Bay Area, CA, and I am a video editor for Madflash Productions.

Here is my problem at hand... I just got a (new to me, but slightly used) Macbook computer, and an Apple Cinema Display so far I am happy as can be, however; the macbook uses what I guess is DVI, and the Apple Display has DisplayPort. I also found out so far that I can’t connect my apple TV (have had this for a year, and it is the greatest thing since sliced bread) to the cinema display as well. Any ideas? I thought this display was supposed to be pretty amazing, but so far it pretty useless... and it makes me very sad...

What's the exact model of your Macbook? The older Macbooks have a DVI output. You probably need a DVI>Mini DisplayPort converter. Gefen makes one for about $80. (Check with Amazon) There is another: Atlona DP200 DVI to Mini DisplayPort Converter at about $118.

    From the Gefen site: http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=8913

    And welcome to our forums.

I'm pretty sure there is only one model Apple LED Cinema Display 24 inch: model number A1267 (Tech specs, Manual PDF).

  5. Case: Yes that is my display.
Redwudz: (redwoods are my favorite tree by the way, love the name!) I have the MacBookPro 15"

A lot of people have been suggesting Atlona's DP200 converter. I checked it out, and it turns out they also have a converter for HDMI to MDP, an HD620. They also have the DP200HD, but it doesn't do sound! It would be awesome if the HD620 could do DVI, and HDMI so I'd only need one. I'm gonna call them today to ask if they have anything like that...

Wish my luck! And thanks for the inquiries and suggestions everyone! You're an awesome help!

    Some background here. http://www.macworld.com/article/136196/2008/10/displayportfaq.html

You want to go the other way DVI-I to display port. Time to schedule an appointment at the genious bar. They may sell an adapter.
