  1. Hi

    Until now I have only made vcd. so I have a question about the quality of svcd. If u make the bitrate so a movie will fit on 2 cd's and with mpeg2 format, the bitrate will be better than with mpeg1, but not the best mpeg2 bitrate.
    Is this a way to go or will it just be best to make 3 cd?

  3. Presume a DVD-ripp as sourse
    Mpeg1 (vcd) have a permanet bitrate 1150, and with mpeg2 (svcd) u can use a higher bitrate and improve quality. If u use max bitrate for mpeg2 u will have u use 3 cd's.
    So what I mean is;
    Is the quality MUCH better with a bitrate configurerd to fit on 2 cd with mpg2 than a regular vcd (mpeg)?

    The bitrate is encreased e.g from 1150 up to 1700-1800....

    regards

  4. you will always be able to fit 40.5min per disc(cbr) if you adhere strictly to the svcd spec. 50min per disc(vbr) is reasonably acceptible even for a 29.97fps full-screen source. you can push 60min per disc(vbr), but you need a 23.976fps+pulldown widescreen source to even hope for acceptible results & i'd recommend replacing any original letterboxing with new 0,0,0 black bars
