2 Problems in WE Re: Showing Video File Info In Columns and Mouse Hover

I used to be able to hover over my avi files and a pop up would tell me the length of the file - it doesn't do that now - it just shows the type and size.

I also have my movies folder (and sub folders) set up with columns named Duration, Dimensions etc but there's no info in them - there used to be a week or so ago - only just noticed these problems today so not sure when they stopped working.

How do I get these things to work again.

The only playing I've done with my PC lately was to update codecs and disable some shell extensions because I was having trouble activating avi files in Windows Explorer when I double clicked on it (WE kept crashing when I double clicked on an avi). I've checked the shell extensions I disabled but none of them seem to have anything to do with this problem.

That's why you no longer get the running time. The codecs and shell extensions are where that information comes from. Try a System Restore to back before you updated codecs.

To reenable Media preview in Windows Explorer you can type

Start>Run>regsvr32 shmedia.dll

If you have any buggy codecs, you may get the crashing/freezing problem again.

You could also use an app such as Mediainfo to get the same info and more.

No, I downloaded and installed Xvid, Divxinstaller, Codes6030allin1 & shexview

I've had K-Lite for ages and it's never given me any problems.
