Here's a good one: Frequently while using my laptop, the mouse will just freeze, whether I'm using the touchpad or an actual mouse. Computer still runs, keyboard works, mouse is frozen. Curser won't move, clicking won't do anything. If I'm playing a game or something, I have to hit the window key and get back to windows, and then just close the laptop, reopen it and everything is fine. Sometimes it does it constantly like every 10 minutes, sometimes it'll go all day without doing it.

    Any ideas?

    Tried a different mouse?

Is yours a USB mouse and do you have other USB devices plugged in? Those can sometimes cause a problem.

Check your 'Task Manager' and see if there is a problem with your memory or CPU usage when the mouse acts up. See if there is a obvious program that might be interfering with it.

There are mouse adjustments in the 'Control Panel>Mouse', but they don't have much to do with your problem.

You can go to your 'Device Manager' in 'Control Panel' and uninstall the mouse. Reboot and it should reinstall the drivers automatically. You can also do this with your touchpad, but I would have the drivers for it ready.

And if you haven't already done it, run a antivirus/antitrojan scan.

Hopefully it's a software problem and not your mouse controller dying.

How about some information about your laptop? Such as make/model, OS, memory, hard drive... Have you checked the manufacturer's support page to see if it's a known problem or if they have updated firmware or drivers for your model?
