when i point to a video file the properties of it will be displayed. but if it is a mp4 file it is not showing. earlier i used to get the info. what should i do to get the properties such as the video codec and video bitrate informations? thanks.

It probably means some other program has taken over the shell integration for the MP4 file type. Quicktime mabye? Switching off the Explorer Tooltip option in MediaInfo, then switching it back on might help. Or uninstalling and reinstalling MediaInfo.
