    Hello,

I downloaded a music video and when i try to open in in VDub I get this message

"Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'XVID' (unknown)

VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable."

I have the XVid codec because I have used it before

OK. Open VDub and go Video->Compression. Do you see XviD listed among all the codecs? Maybe you don't have a VFW version installed. Clicking on the 'XviD' name in your or my post takes you to a page on this site where you can download it. Or maybe something's wrong with your install and you should uninstall/reinstall it.

You might only have a DirectShow filter for Xvid installed (such as ffdshow, though you can also enable ffdshow's Video for Windows version of Xvid, as well). Download the Xvid codec, and install it.
