Hello. Super newb here, so please be merciful.

I have an .avi that was corrupted, possibly when transferring it from the video camera to my PC. Anyway, I can play it in Windows Media Player 11 just fine. It is 1:00:01 long and plays all the way to the end.

However, when I use programs like DVDFlick to burn a DVD from this .avi, or when I try to repair it using DVDFix or VirtualDub, or when I use GSpot to look at the tagged info, the .avi comes out to 4:28.805.

The file is 971MB. When inspecting the properites via Windows it is:

    720x480 pixels

    AUDIO
    Duration: 1:00:01
    Bit Rate: 1536kbps
    Audio Sample Size: 16bit
    Audio Format: PCM

    VIDEO
    Frame Rate: 29f/s
    Data Rate: 2210kbps

    But via GSpot it is:

    DV Type 2 AVI
    Codec: dvsd
    Length: 4:28.805
    Frms: 8056
    kbps: 28770
    Qf: 2.778
    Frames/s: 29.970
    Fields/s: 59.94

Any clues on how to repair this .avi and get the remainder to show up when burning a DVD?

    Thanks.

It was 4 years ago. I'm sure the tape has been recycled.

IOW, I'm screwed? Maybe I'll just make everyone watch the .avi with WMP.
