    Hi all,

I'm having a problem with a video file and wondered if anyone could take a look and see if they know the codecs used, and how to convert it to something usable...

    I've uploaded it here: bcsarts.co.uk/20080808143534_20080808153534.avc (approx 3MB)

Bascially, we can play the video in VLC (mac) but it doesn't find the audio track.

It plays with the audio in the proprietary software supplied with the DVR it came from, which is here: http://www.surveillance-download.com/user/setup.exe (approx 11MB)

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!!

The video appears to be H.264/MPEG-4_AVC. But no luck with the audio format. Surveillance systems sometimes use proprietary formats. This from MediaInfo:

Some one here may have some ideas about the audio. Worst case, you may be able to do a screen capture with a program like CamStudio by running their software for playback.

    And welcome to our forums.

Make sure that .exe doesn't have a virus/malware/adware, etc. Then install and then play the file, while capping the audio in Total Recorder (or something similar).

Have done this exact thing before and it works fairly well, it's just a matter of finding/making sure of sync between V + A.
