wmcapture sync problems?

I captured a documentary from the BBC iPlayer using WMCAPTURE. It plays OK in windows media player but I need to splice some parts together and when I put it in video-re-do, virtual dub mod or avidemux the audio track is no longer syncronised to the video track and there is no 'lip sync'? the audio track ends up a long way behind the video picture (a long delay)....
...is there a way to fix this problem please?

It would help if you have some INFORMATION ABOUT THE SOURCE FILE,
What container, wmv,avi,mpg and what video and audio codec. Identify using MediaInfo.

...in the end I used tmpgenc express 4 'with error correction' to re-sync the output file. On high motion scenes it is a little jerky but still watchable with good lip-sync. WM capture was used to screen capture the programme initially.
