Hello
I record Super 8 films using a Sony (Mini) DV camcorder straight through my Pinnacle AV DV card into Magix (without passing go). I've noticed that the colours on screen and on final burn are different from those projected. Any ideas why that might be? I've heard some comments about colour depth but I dont know more than that. Thanks in advance.

looks like too many steps to me. if you are playing the super8 on a screen and using a minidv cam, why not just record it to tape, super8 is never very long. then transfer the tape to computer with windv as dvavi and work with it from there. that way you also end up with a digital tape to preserve as backup.
make sure the white balance is correct while taping the film, if not all colors will be off. -
Film Projection Issues
- Bulb type, bulb age and voltage affect color balance
- Method of light transmission (optical vs. screen)
Camera issues
- White balance as suggested.
- RGB->YCbCr .601 color space compression (saturation compression, reds especially affected)
Computer issues
