I started shopping around for a replacement CD burner for my laptop, but it seems they're all 24X
Can I buy an internal laptop CD burner than can burn at 32x or 40X?

I guess not.I just checked newegg.com nothing over 24x for cd's and 8x for dvd's .
or you have to go external if you want speed over 24x/8x
you have no patient to wait few extra min's? -
Yeah I found the same thing on newegg too. I use good quality CD-R and they burn fine at higher speeds, never had a complaint about not being able to play one of these discs.. I wonder why there's such a limit...

The speed is probably limited for laptops to limit power requirements for the battery.
Probably also to limit vibration - they are not as sturdy as desktop units."I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed, or numbered! My life is my own" - the Prisoner

I use an external Pioneer or Sony drive.
