archos/video conv help! Newb alet!

I'm so new at this it isnt funny....this is my issue:
Archos requires you to purchase plug ins to play videos..So I found away around by converting .flv to mpeg and using windows movie maker to put the video on my computer then sync to my archos..latley after converting to video it just freezes after 2 min in...
There has got to be an easier way:: I know I'm making this way to hard on myself.
Any sugestions?

Is it freezing during the conversion or during the transfer?

I have the Archos 604. I use TMPGEnc 4.0 Xpress to handle my conversions. I usually convert to .divx. Archos 604 plays .divx natively. You can try that format. I NEVER transfer by syncing. I just setup the Archos as a hard drive and transfer that way.

Thanks for your info I will try this..I knew there had to be a better way
