  2. I'm assuming it's 6-ch AAC audio?

Extract audio with mkvextractgui, convert to 6-ch AC3 with EAC3TO

I haven't used FAVC in a while, I'm not sure if FAVC can "retain original audio" - if it can, just repackage the audio in a "new" mkv with the 5.1 AC3, then feed that into FAVC

If it can't you can just do it manually with a multiplexer, i.e. just take the FAVC output and replace the 2 channel audio with the new 5.1 AC3 (e.g. muxman or imagompeg-muxer, etc...)

The missing IFO and BUP files are a muxman issue to do with the bitrate. Apparently if Muxman thinks the video bitrate is too high it fails to complete. When this has happened to me I have been unable to find the spikes in the bitrate that Muxman is concerned about, and the resulting DVD has had no playback issues. If you drop the maximum bitrate to under 7800 in the HCEnc settings you should see this problem disappear (I have mine set at 8700).

1.05 used to do 6 channel AAC to 5.1 AC3, but had a problem with channel mapping that could be overcome with some scripting. I haven't had to do AAC to AC3 in the newer versions.

  5. 1) Set the program paths on tab1; for your purposes you only need eac3to.exe
    2) Add Source File (i.e. the 5.1 AAC track)
    3) In the 2nd tab, select your input file from the drop down menu
    4) Enter a File Name
    5) Select AC3 from the drop down menu "Save As Type"
    6) Press Run Command Line (Tab Specfic)

Feel free to change other options (e.g. bitrate, Custom Channel Mapping etc....)

awsome tut thanks but its not working for me says nero decoder instance failed so i got a new nero decoder and same thing any ideas??

checked the log it says :

    eac3to v2.68
    command line: "C:\Users\****\Desktop\eac3to\eac3to.exe" "C:\Users\****\Desktop\I.aac" -check
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    AAC, 5.1 channels, 24khz
This audio conversion is not supported.

after trying in admin mode i get and stopping kaspersky from blockig i get:

    eac3to v2.68
    command line: "C:\Users\****\Desktop\eac3to\eac3to.exe" "C:\Users\****\Desktop\I.aac" "E:\kkii.ac3"
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    AAC, 5.1 channels, 24khz
Decoding with DirectShow (Nero Audio Decoder 2)...
Getting "Nero Audio Decoder 2" instance failed.
    Aborted at file position 49152.

mediainfo says the track is 24.0KHz 6 channels AAC (ADTS) (version 4) (LC) maybe that helps

now if i convert with convertxdvd it does it fine then i can rip the audio remux it with mkv and encode with favc but that is way more effort than im into. how does convertx convert the audio fine but i cant weird

  7. I think you need Nero 7, not 8 or 9.

By far the best way is using EAC3TO, because of the quality and accessible options

But another method is to use foobar2000, convert to wav, then convert the wav to 6-channel AC3 using any audio encoder (e.g. belight, besweet, behappy, aften, MeGUI etc...) This is the way most people used to do it before EAC3TO. You may need to download the foobar AC3 plugin

Nero7 works for sure and is supported according to the author, Madshi. I've also tested and can confirm it works. Another option is to use the Sonic decoder if you have that installed (just use the drop down menu and force decoder)

I heard Nero9 might work ,but not officially supported - the 330+ page thread is here if you want to read it

    Nero8 definitely doesn't work.
