I was using FAVC to convert a 1080p video( MKV container) to a DVD 5 for my nephew. The conversion stripped off the english subtitles which was in the source . What did I do wrong? Tks

You must extract the subs and add manually in favc. Use mkvextract or mkvcleaver.

OK Understand. I was disappointed at the results. It took 4 hrs of conversion , then no subtitiles to a Tahi movie ! Yuks . Tks for the info.

I understand the drop in quality but he's not that fussy. I would not do it for myself, I would do it with 2 DVD's
I checked media info :
the video stream is AVC
Audio stream is DTS
text stream is UTF-8.
After I ran AVS2DVD , there was only video , no audio and no subtitles ??
I had Audio Stream set to Auto , maybe I should set it to AC3 since software cannot handle DTS.
Did I do something wrong in the settings?
When I reloaded the file again then opened Title Edit , indeed there was no subtitle present. Maybe it does not recognize the UTF-8 stream? I ran the search and indeed there was no text in the search screen .
Maybe I just have to extract the subtitle stream ( with subtitle rip ) or try and use DVDFlick instead.
Definitely need help on this clip.Last edited by sportflyer; 18th Feb 2010 at 20:39. Reason: add more info

Did you try pressing the Subtitle/Subtitles button on your remote?
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
