    I just purchase a Toshiba sd 6100 dvd player and made the connection to my tv...great picture and audio but it's black and white, what is wrong? fyi, only other connection is my cable television provider ..those cables going to the tv obviously..no other components.

    Using the rca cables that came with the dvd player" component" connection.

    Switch the cables around or try substituting different cables. You may have a bad connection. RCA audio cables will also work for short runs.

    EDIT: I assume you are using the component out on the player and the component in on the TV? Usually those cables are color coded red, greeen blue. Make sure they are in the proper jacks on both ends. Yellow is usually composite video, red and white is stereo right and left, orange is coaxial audio.

    Off chance, but trying to view a PAL video on a NTSC set might also give you B+W, but probably wouldn't work at all with most setups.
