  1. Hello. The TV I have is a GRUNDIG LCD (Model GU19WDV4). I have a Sony DVD Player (DVP-NS305). I'm using S-Video/Stereo Audio Cable to watch DVDs. The sound & picture looks good, but the movies are shown in black and white. It used to be a color picture but suddenly went black and white. I tried a new cable and new DVD player without luck. How do I fix it? If anyone can help me out I'd really appreciate it.

What country do you live in?
What country is the DVD you are watching from?

I've seen NTSC discs play in black and white on a PAL tv in the past. Can you confirm a match in tv standards for the disc/player/tv ?

  4. Hi hech54,

I'm based in UK and all DVDs I tried to watch were bought at HMV.

I used to get a colour picture but suddenly went black and white.

Thanks in advance for your help

I just went to HMV's wesbite and did a search for "NTSC":
    http://hmv.com/hmvweb/simpleMultiSearch.do?searchUID=&pGroupID=-1&adultFlag=false&prim...mitSearch.y=15

You probably bought NTSC DVDs from HMV....so you need to change the settings on your DVD player.
Hopefully your player is capable of doing that.

    NTSC - North America
PAL - UK, Australia and the rest of the world.

  8. You could always find an old black and white television for it.

  10. I would say the s video connector on your tv is defective, probably just needs to be re-soldered. If anything just use a composite video cable instead, doesn't make that much difference.

Busted cable or connector. Concur. If it's the cable, the dollar stores in your area must still sell cheap ones. They do here...
