  1. Hi
I am using DVDit PE and on the odd occasion ULEAD DMF. As DVD-R is not a 100% compatible media, am looking at carrying out the following:-

I am producing DVD's from DV footage for people, but i think i need to give people a test disc to see if there Set top DVD player is compatible with DVD-R.

heres were it gets long winded

I am thinking of producing a number of test discs on different media and different authoring software. Here are my various options.:-

1)Production on Verbatim DVD-R using DVDit PE
2)Production on Verbatim DVD-RW using DVDit PE
3)Production on Memorex DVD-R using DVDit PE

3)Production on Verbatim DVD-R using Ulead DMF
4)Production on Verbatim DVD-RW using Ulead DMF
3)Production on Memorex DVD-R using Ulead DMF

    Are all these really necessary.

    Other solutions welcome
    Thx

Can't give any solutions, but a week ago I started a poll asking people what their experiences with DVD-R compatability was.

    I got zero replys.

I believe it depends on the disc brand as well as the authoring program.

I would suggest authoring several test discs, using high quality media (major brand) and different authoring software. Label each disc with the name of the authoring software used.

Loan the disc's to each person and have them report which disc (if any) worked in their player.

Also, be sure to tell each person that the disc's are not guaranteed to play in all players.

They can always get another player later by bringing their disc to the store and testing them. Or they can pay several thousand dollars and have it pressed like a Hollywood disc.
