Can anyone recommend any Vista compatible disc authoring/burning software which gives you the option to add sub menus? (say, 2 one hour videos on a DVD+R/RW where I can go in and place chapters in each video).
Windows DVD Maker that comes with my new tower doesn't let you change the set menu times and I used to use ULead DMF3 when I had XP but it doesn't work on my new tower and I know ULead claim the newest DMF's are Vista compatible but reviews I've read in Google searches about the newest DMF's seem to doubt this claim and I just spent the little $ I did have on a new tower, this one:

...and I don't want to gamble on the new DMF working if there are doubts about it, so please post any ideas here, maybe the specs of the tower will make it easier to know what will work for me. As long as the software does the above I'm happy.
Thanks in advance for the replies.![]()

Have you looked at GUI for DVDauthor? AFAIK, it works under Vista, but not having a Vista-equipped PC, I have no direct experience.
For burning, use Imgburn after authoring.
All free, all good. -
Sorry, maybe I should've posted this in the newbies board. I D/L'ed GUI etc. and when I go to create a chapter it's on about demuxing etc. and I didn't have to do any of that with ULead. I do appreciate that this was free software but I really am a newbie and I don't mind paying for software as long as it does the above through wizards as ULead did. I don't want motion menus or anything, just the above said capabilities that will behave with Vista.

I suspect you will find that Ulead also demuxed, it just did it in the background without telling you. That is one thing about commercial software, especially consumer software - it often hide a lot of the processes in the background. It is not always a bad thing to learn about how things really work.

I know I figured it did it in the background and I will learn it if I have to, I just hope someone can point one out here one that will do it for me and I'm prepared to pay for that so I don't have to learn it is all.

You say you're short on cash. Well, here's a chance to save money, and learn something at the same time. Sounds like a deal to me!
Read the tutorials for GUIforDVDAuthor. They're not complex. Sure, they're not as engrossing as the latest blockbuster spy novel, but when you're done, you'll be able to make your DVDs really sing. -
I appreciate you're trying to help me save cash and maybe that's what I'll end up doing, but to be blunt, I don't want to learn it right now.
I just want to quickly get my burning back up to date due to the back log created by my old tower crashing and trying to find things I can use on my new one until I have time to find things like you've suggested later.
So when I have time later I will learn it.
For now though, I'm looking for a USER FRIENDLY software I can pay for.
Any suggestions that meet the above criteria in previous posts from anyone here would be greatly appreciated. -
