If this has already been asked then I apologise.

The issue is not with Shrink as I can read/shrink on one PC no problem.

Put the same disk in another PC. The drive matches the disk and plays through PowerDVD (DVD genie has set the region)

Fire up Shrink and the drive is reported to be different region and more than that the number of changes left is different to what PowerDVD reported.

Something has got a little messed up. Amy thought on a solution. For the user in mind a rip to HDD before Shrinking is not really practical.

You could try something like DVD43 (free) or Anydvd (not free) running in the background.

Don't use DVDShrink to rip. Why do people insist on doing that? Use another program to rip and then use DVDShrink. Problem solved.

If you think that ripping to a hard drive prior to using DVDShrink is "not really practical", you're nuts. That's the recommended method. Reading directly from a DVD drive like you propose will shorten the life of the drive.

I told what will absolutely fix this issue. It's up to to do it or ignore my advice and continue to have problems. If the user isn't smart enough to rip to a hard drive, they don't really need to be using DVDShrink.

It's not a problem for me. I can do it blindfold. The problem is teaching someone who could easily get confused by having extra files on his PC

So I asked for advice. Not a lecture.

All I know is that one program is giving the wrong information. The drive

IS set for region 2 but Shrink reports it as region 1
