There's something wrong with my DVD Decrypter. Whenever I rip a dvd with it, no matter if it's an IFO file to compress or an ISO to burn onto another DVD, the video becomes all patchy with distorted boxes popping up every few seconds. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it a few times but it still does it. Anyone know what the problem is?

If it is a new DVD....try ripping it with a ripper that is not OUT OF DATE AND OBSOLETE. DVDDecrypter is still VERY useful....but not as a ripper of new DVDs.

They're not new movies, for example I ripped the movie Seven, but what program would you recommend that can rip the movies and then be able to be compressed by autoGK?

Ok, so I tried another DVD ripper called ClanDVD and I got the same problem. It can't be the DVD because it's happened on every DVD I try. So if it's not DVD Decrypter and it's not the DVD.. then what the heck is the problem?

Does this problem occur if you play back the "uncompressed" ripped files, or after the video is "compressed" with DVDShrink or another "video compression" software?

It happens on both of the, before and after compression.

So this is happening when you play back the "uncompressed" ripped files off the HDD too?

Is it like this in software like PowerDVD, before you burn, or only on the burned copy? If hard drive playing is fine, it could be a low-quality blank DVD. If good on hard drive AND good media is used, it could be a writer issue.

I just tried playing it straight from the DVD and it has the same problem, and on top of the patchy video it's all jumpy. Does that mean that my DVD drive has gone bad and I need a new one?

And no It's not the DVD because I've tried more than one, and also tried them in another dvd player and it works fine.

It should play fine off your hard drive without macroblocking using a software player such as PowerDVD, MPC or VLC, as long as no compression is applied.
Your pc specs are sufficient to playback DVD's with no problem. Just throwing out some ideas. Have you not defragmented your hard drive in a while? Check to see that you have DMA enabled. Got to run, but someone else can likely help you. Good luck.

I've come to the conclusion that there's something wrong with my DVD drive, is there anyway to fix it or do I need to buy a new one?
