  1. I have an mkv file for which I would like to change the built-in audio track with a .wav file containing AC3 soundtrack. When I try to use mkvmerge to add the wav, I get the error "file identification failed for 'filename.wav'. Return code: 2. Error: The demultiplexer for the file 'filename.wav' failed to initialize: wav_reader: No data chunk was found."

I tried renaming wav but that didn't help. Any idea how to do this?

  3. wav is from a different language version of the same video.

Are you usually supposed to be able to do this? Maybe the wav file was corrupt. I used virtualdub to extract it.

[The problem may be caused by virtualdub's saving process. I tried a different AC3 and it didn't have this problem]

[A solution is to import the video containing the wav instead of wav. Another way is to save the wav under a compliant program like delaycut]
