    the AVI file doesn't have black borders. i want the DVD format to not have black borders also. does anyone know how to do that?

    I've only "fooled around" with AVIDemux but most MPEG-4 AVI files (DivX and XviD) use a 1:1 pixel aspect ratio. So you would use that as your source assuming that is the kind of AVI file you are talking about.

    As for the destination ... if the source is widescreen then use 16:9 for the destination. If the source is 1.33:1 Full Screen then pick 4:3 as the destination.

    You can always use GSpot to determine the properties of the source AVI file.

    Load your AVI into GSpot and post a screen shot of it.

    Then I'll tell you.

    And if your aspect ratio isn't exactly 4:3 or 16:9 then you will have to add black border to bring your resolution up to DVD spec, or crop and resize. Adding borders is the better option as it doesn't degrade the image to the same degree.
