    I am trying to open a DV .avi file I uploaded from my camcorder, but avidemux won't open it. The program just immediately closes and doesn't give any error. I can open it successfully in Virtualdub and other programs, but not avidemux.

    I am using Vista 64 to do this if that makes a difference. Any suggestions for me to be able to open these DV files?

    Go back to an older version like 2.4. More recent versions appear to be borked as far as DV AVI is concerned.

    That worked. I installed 2.4 and it opens it up fine. Thanks for your help.
