    Happy new years to all

Ive been making DVDs from all sorts of sources (for use at home)
eg: 5 or so avi(divx) files converted to DVD with menu's using convertxtoDVD.
then the audio_ts and video_ts files are then burned to Ritec DVDs using nero 7

when the disk is produced it will play on the dvd drive in the PC
and will play on my pioneer dv400k stand alone dvd player (with divx)

but will not get past the first episode on my pioneer dvr 330 dvd recorder also I have tried these disks
on friends DVD players and have only found One dvd player that the disks will play on.
some read the disk and like me will play the first episode only, then on the other episodes will start to jump around, stop start jam up or just not read at all..

So how do I make a disk that first of all will play on my pioneer dvr 330.

what do you think i am doing wrong.

I always burn on the lowest speed 4x on the ritec disks
and i always use DVD video settings on nero 7

I would try new discs, Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden. I just had a problem where my RitekG05's would not produce a readable DVD on two separate players. I burned the same image on Verbatim +R 8x and it worked perfectly.

    Two suggestions:

    - Ritec (Ritek) discs are generally not good quality, the recommendation is usually to use either Verbatim or TY discs
    - Since you've already generated the proper video_ts and audio_ts folders, just use ImgBurn in "Build" mode.

I've followed those two bits of advice and and no issues with playability.

    Hope that helps,
    Jim

There is no substitute for good media and most burning problems are media related. Dump the riteks and get some TY or Verbs. I wouldn't use anything else. Bitset (also called booktype) it to DVD-ROM. Also, burn at the rated speed or in the case of 16x I burn at 12x. I don't know where this idea came from that slower is better, nonsense! Make sure you have the latest firmware for your burner. Do this and tell us how things worked out.

There are burners which have a better success rate with Ritek than yours has.

In any case, the suggestions that you use stop using Ritek may solve your problems.

Why are you using Nero to burn the output of ConvertXtoDVD? The later versions of convertXtoDVD have a built in burning engine.

Some DVD players, particularly older ones, are not compatible with +R media, so you can set your burner to DVD-ROM which "fools" the player into thinking the media is -R. I use Nero CD/DVDspeed, a burner utility to set the booktype. It is free: http://www.cdspeed2000.com/ make sure your burner shows in the dialog box, click Extra, then Bitsetting, then where it says "new setting" choose DVD-ROM and click Set. That's it. Some burners you have to set that each time you burn (LG comes to mind), others will keep it as the default after setting.

No... it set's the booktype on +R's to DVD-ROM so it see's it as a store bought pressed disc 8)
    not a -R.

Yeah you can only change the booktype to DVD-ROM on +R's.

Yep... the VSO burning engine in ConvertXtoDvd is good, i never had a problem with it the few times i used it, but i use ImgBurn to burn the resulting files also.

I just noticed the latest version i have does not let you choose between using NERO or the VSO burning engine ?
I know older versions did, or i'm missing something on the newest version....
