Okay, 3 days of reading, research, trial and error and still not success. This is where I am...

    files are AVI files.
I have convertxtodvd and convert the files. I have tried every possible way to burn them, NERO, convertxtodvd and a couple other programs and none will allow the dvd to play on my player.
My DVD player says disc error, playback feature may not beavailable on this disc.
I can play dvd's on my computer, but that is not what I want and defeats the purpose for me.

What am I doing wrong. I know I am probably missing one stupid detail but I can't figure it out.

okay, me again with an update...

i think a problem may be converting the avi file to ISO. When I check the convertxtodvd log it showed the convert was in mpeg4 not ISO. I have no clue how to change that. I think my main problem in getting my AVI files to ISO. How the heck to I do this? Help Help Help. I am so frustrated. And I feel so dumb right now.

I have gone through all the guides step by step and still no luck. The video output shows mpeg 4 not ISO. Is this the problem? I can't find where to change it.

  5. Just get a divx player. Copy your AVI to a disk & play. No conversion neccessary.

convertxtodvd produces audio_ts and video_ts dvd files in the default working folder or burns them to disc. not mpeg4.

you may not have set the proper type output - ntsc or pal for your player. most avi is pal (25fps) type, and must be forced to ntsc to play on some standalones. settings/tv format/ntsc - make sure to change it from automatic.

OK, I have checked the settings and everything is correct. ntsc is set correct and the files are in "ts" form audio and video. I burned the movie and still not working on my dvd player. I have 3 players and none of them work! HELP

Thanks for everyone who has tried to help so far!

When convertxtodvd has finished converting you will have two folders - VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS. Download ImgBurn, install, start it. Hit CTRL+ALT+B then drag the VIDEO_TS folder into ImgBurn, set the write speed and hit the burn button.

    yep like he said

convertx is not a burner and it does NOT create ISO files, it creates the DVD video files

imgburn is the best burning software around

you can use nero, to burn, but QUIT choosing image, choose DVD video disc or data disc, drag & drop /navigate

you want to burn the video_ts folder with its files in the root of disc

just look at one of your retail DVD dissc to get the idea

make sure you are using high quality dvd discs. most people find verbatim to work. dvd-r is recognized by more standalones than dvd+r so you might want to start with -r blanks.
