Hi!
I have a requestion regarding the playback of DVD-RIP. It might be dumb, but I frankly don't know what to do about it.
I recently acquired a 22' widescreen monitor and use a resolution of 1680 X 1050. Whenever I play a DVD-Rip (that I get from the web), the image is a bit pixelated when I play it full screen. I will read comments from people saying that the video is of super high quality, but every one that I have downloaded, I have had that problem, some are worse than others. Is it just normal or is there a way to tweak the qulaity of the image. Whether I use WMP or VLC, there is no difference. I tried to check the options but couln't see anything related to that.
I used to have a 17' monitor and the movies looked better as I can remember. Maybe, because the resolution was smaller so the pixels did not show.
Please help, I just expected to have a better viewing experience with a bigger screen and it seems to be the opposite.
Thanks in advance.

What happens when you play a store bought, commercial DVD from the same system to the 22" monitor?

The image is much clearer, pretty much what i would get to see on my TV...

The key to your answer is "downloaded". You are not getting the same product that is on a DVD but a highly compressed format suitable for distribution over the web. Full DVD quality unaltered is going to run in the neighbohood of 5, 6, 7... GB's .

Is there still a way to increase the quality of the playback itself?
I'm using the Vista codecs pack... -
