I'm making a series of clips ripped from Youtube and converted to .avi using Tubehunter, which converts the audio to MP3 at VBR, which of course creates problems with VirtualDub. I put clips together using Append clip and the first 4 clips didn't involve an audio stream but the 5th one did even though the rest were ripped the same way. VDub won't append the clip with a different audio stream. I suppose I could just copy the audio stream but I plan to use 10-15 more clips and I don't want to do that every time. How do I fix this?

Open the file in VD, then under 'Audio', select 'No audio'. Save out the video and audio with 'Direct stream copy'.
If you want to fix the VBR instead, save it out as a WAV with full processing, then add it back in and using the Lame MP3 ACM codec, and convert it to MP3 CBR audio with full processing. I find VD Mod a little simpler for this.
