    I know this question has been asked a couple of times, but I still can't seem to find the answer.

    I have a problem thats been buggin me 4 the last couple of days. I have a video thats a wmv, but because I'm starting think they are kinda unstable with my players I really want to convert it to xvid avi.I've tried abot 6 different converters, but every outputted video it OUT OF SYNC with the audio.

    Iv'e read on some forums that newer wmv's tend to have variable framerates, which can (and has) proved to be a pain in the ass.

    Does Anyone have any suggestions or advice as to how I can convert these vids with the audio problems.

    So far I've I tried simplemencoder,winavi, super,TMPGenc,TMmpgenc express and a couple others..

    Thanks in advance

    Have you tried Windows Movie Maker? Export to DV-AVI with it and then convert to Xvid with any converter like AutoGK.

    I think the program Any Video Converter will do the trick in just one step. Just select audio as "original" when converting.

    I really wanted to try WMM but it wouldn't even open my wmv's and I don't know why.

    somethings interfering with it. unfortunately, you usually have to remove one program at a time to determine this (or add them one at a time if reformatting your hdd). codec packs are highly suspect.

    I just might have to do that as my last option.

    DirectShowSource() works for me.

    I posted my reply before you edited.

    I do use "convertfps" in my wmv AviSynth scripts, and encode to DVD using TMPGEnc Plus.

    I don't have my scripts in front of me (they're on the home computer), but IIRC I use the basic:
    DirectShowSource("my_video.wmv", fps=29.97, convertfps=true) - not 100% sure on the "fps" setting, but I think that's right.

    Been doing this about once a week for a year or so, on the "Cranky Geeks" vidcast, so that I can watch from the comfort of my sofa

    Hope that helps,

    I tried doing that in tmpgenc and vdub and it told me that directshowsource doesn't have a named argument "convertfps"

    Be sure you're using the latest version of Avisynth - from the Wiki page it appear to be a recent addition. I'm using 2.5.7 and as I said, it works fine for me.
