    Hi All,

I am new to all the DVD recording and such. Can someone explain or direct me to a book to learn about all the different DVD media? I am totally confused with the different types of DVDs (DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, AVI) and anything else which can be thrown in.

  6. If you are adventurous you can visit:
    www.dvddemystified.com/dvdfaq.html

As for www.digitalfaq.com :the author is a little skewed towards -R but the website is informative nonetheless.

melcow , I would first try a different brand of DVD media. Media problems seem to cause the majority of DVD playback problems. And they are the easiest to fix. Another thing you might try is using DVD + media and a burning program that does 'bitsetting', if your burner can do this. https://www.videohelp.com/glossary?B#BitSetting,%20BookType

Or it could be a problem with your burning program. I recommend ImgBurn. Or it could be the method and program you are using to create the DVD. Or the burner itself. But I would try a media change first.

BTW, if you have further questions, I would start your own thread and you may get more answers.

    And welcome to our forums.

@melcow : are you finalising the disc in your DVD recorder before you try to play it in another machine ?
