Good day guys! This is my first time posting in this forums so I hope I posted in the right section. I just want to seek for advice regarding DVD authoring with menu. These are the two scenarios.

    1. I have downloaded different video files (.mp4, .rm, .vob) and I want to author them so that it will fit on a 4.3 GB DVD..
Do you know of any DVD authoring software that will directly convert this to DVD and has an option in choosing the output bitrate so that 12 video files (25 minutes each) may fit in a 4.3 GB?

    2. I have a .vob file without .ifo and .bup, and I want to author it WITH menu. What technique or software should I use? When I try to add this .vob file to TMPGenc it reencodes it.. Is there a way not to reencode the .vob file and directly create .ifo and the Menu??
What DVD authoring software should I use??

    3. Is it possible if I will just convert the video files to .vob with a conversion software (MediaCoder) and then just import them to DVD author software and Create Menu and lastly burn? What DVD author software will let you import these .vob without reencode.. Thanks.

These are the softwares that I have tried TMPGenc DVD author 3, ConvertXtoDVD 3, Xilisoft DVD Creator, DVD Flick, Nero.

Thanks in advance and if possible advice me of the FASTEST dvd authoring software thanks.

12 x 25 minutes is a big ask on a single layer disc. The quality will be poor at full D1 resolution, so you would really need to consider at least half-D1, and perhaps even VCD resolution. For that I would use FAVC, however you won't get a menu for that many titles.

For VOBs without IFO files, use VOB2MPG to extract the content to an mpg file, then use that in your authoring. If it is DVD compliant then it won't be re-encoded, but you should check the content with mediainfo or g-spot. If you try to convert PAL to NTSC or NTSC to PAL you will have to re-encode.

Fastest is probably ConvertXtoDVD, but I would not be using it to 5 and half hours on a single layer disc.

I just want to have a fair output. I have these DVD in here which is 24 episodes that fitted in a 4.3 GB but I do not know how it is done.

What if the file is .mp4 do I have to convert it first to MPEG-2 before I can import it?

    .mp4-->.mpg(MPG2)--->vob??

and I really need a MENU.

Quality is relative and very subjective. If you are happy with the output for that amount of footage, fine. Use FAVC, tick the box that says Keep Working Files (or similar - it has been a while), and you will get elementary streams for each video (a video and an audio file). You can then use these to author and create your own menus using something like GUIForDVDAuthor or DVD Styler.

Yes, you have to convert to Mpeg-2 to author a DVD. MPG-1 is acceptable under limited circumstances.

There is no point going directly to VOB, as the authoring process will just have to demux the VOBs to create new ones for the new disc.

Use ifoedit to make new ifo and bups, you can then import the files into tmpgenc dvd author as dvd video without re-encoding them.

I need something like ConvertX2DVD but produces lower video bitrate with the same conversion speed and supports menu..

You need to change your forum name then. You don't seem to want to learn, just find the quickest way to get your disc. ConvertXtoDVD is the only tool that fits your request. The problem is that your request is unreasonable. You cannot put almost 6 hours on a single layer disc without carefully encoding and authoring to lower than DVD resolutions. Otherwise it will look far worse that it is going to anyway.

My forum name has nothing to do with this.. I just want to learn how to encode it the fastest way as my thread is named.. Well if its unreasonable just what you said, then be it.. I'm just asking though..
