i have had my mp3 player for a couple of months now but lately it keeps freezing as i turn it on. the screen stops and i don't even have a chance to start playing my songs. The only way i can turn it off is by taking the battery out. This happens several times then it plays normally. i have changed the battery but still no change. What else can i do? thanks

Moving you to our computer forum. DVD to AVI is not mp3 player related...

Take it back? If it's just a few months old, there must be some warranty left.

If it freezes as sooin as you start it, I doubt it's a file that is your problem (unless the player autstarts playing something). But I can well imagine a broken MP3 may cause a player to lock up.

It would be even nicer if you said what brand ... or some reference as to where it came from in order to determine the cause .

    http://www.mympxplayer.org/portal.php , may be of help .

    Lockups can come from :

    Firmware issue = update
Wrong type of battery used .
Mp3s wrong frequency and / or bitrate

Actual fault with hardware = under warrantee , return it for repair / replace / refund

First thing would be to connect to pc and copy the tunes to a folder on the pc .
And remember what drive letter is associated with it in windows explorer ... important .
After , close windows explorer .

    Now

Right click on my computer on desktop
    Select "manage"
    New window appears
    Click on "disk management"
Remember the letter as shown in windows explorer ... thats the one you want
    Its listed as removable
Where it says the actual drives letter (note the format)
Right click , and select format
    Answer yes
Check it is set to correct format type , and click ok
    Wait till completed
    Close coputer management once done

Now put mp3's back on unit
    Retest .

    ----

If it plays a default video on screen , it's possible the firmware needs updating in order to fix it .
